Fernand Leger, Mother and Child (1953), sold for $90,000 (EUR76,100), more than one and a half times the low estimate at Artcurial in Paris on April 17.

The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $40,000, equivalent to an annualized return of 2%. It last sold at auction in 1999 for $50,000 at Cornette de Saint-Cyr.

Gouache and pencil on tracing paper mounted on paper and canvas, 58.0 x 46.0cm. The work has not been traded before.
