The Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam has announced its program spanning spring, summer, and autumn 2026, focusing on diverse cinematic themes and practices. The schedule includes a variety of film exhibitions, curated film series, lectures, and a dedicated international conference, catering to a broad spectrum of film scholarship and appreciation.
Among the highlights is Eye(s) Open – New Perspectives on Colonial Film Heritage, a multi-artist exhibition featuring works by Paula Albuquerque, Timoteus Anggawan Kusno, Esther Figueroa, and others, running from March to September 2026. This initiative is complemented by the Eye International Conference (May 31 – June 1, 2026), developed in collaboration with the University of Amsterdam, which will further explore film heritage in practice. Other significant programming includes Queer Power (April 18 – June 14, 2026), an Ulrich Seidl Exhibition (March 4 – May 13, 2026), and a retrospective dedicated to filmmaker Charles Burnett from September 2026.
Further program elements for 2026 include 2001: A Time Capsule, a series commencing from June 25, alongside Previously Unreleased screenings (November 26 – December 16, 2026). The museum will also present programs exploring filmmakers such as Stephan Elliott, Richard Kelly, Steven Spielberg, Michael Haneke, Nanouk Leopold, and Hayao Miyazaki, reinforcing its commitment to cinematic breadth and historical context. All events will be hosted at the Eye Filmmuseum, located at IJpromenade 1.
