Museion in Bolzano, Italy, is set to present "Evelyn Taocheng Wang. Sweet Landscape," the artist's first institutional solo exhibition. The exhibition will open to the public on April 25, 2026, and run until November 8, 2026.
Wang's exhibition will feature a suite of new works exploring themes of cultural hybridity, identity, and the confluence of personal narrative with broader art historical traditions. Her practice integrates autofiction with elements from classical Chinese ink painting and calligraphy, alongside references to Western art. The presentation will encompass various media, including painting, writing, installation, performance, and fashion.
The works on view will utilize materials such as silk, Xuan-paper, mineral color, and calligraphy ink. Specific components include grid paintings, window paintings, and an architectural installation incorporating site-specific motifs. Wang's approach often involves scenography and a visual language that engages with landscape painting and Taoist principles.
Evelyn Taocheng Wang is an alumna of Nanjing Normal University, HBK Städelschule, and De Ateliers. Her work has been exhibited at institutions such as the Rockbund Art Museum, Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen, Museum Abteiberg, and KW Institute for Contemporary Art, and was featured in the Venice Biennale. Her pieces are held in public collections including the Art Institute of Chicago, Centraal Museum, and Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. The exhibition is curated by Leonie Radine.
