Eugene Delacroix, Lion et lionne dans les montagnes (1847), sold for $847,000 (GBP640,000), more than two and a half times the low estimate at Sotheby's in London on July 1.

The sale was below the previous auction result by $2.02m, realizing a 70% negative return. It last sold at auction in 2006 for $2.87m at Christie's.
