The National Portrait Gallery will host "A National Portrait," an interactive digital portrait project by artist Es Devlin. Opening on 14 May 2026 in the History Makers gallery, the project invites public engagement in its creation.

Developed in collaboration with Google Arts & Culture Lab, the initiative allows individuals to contribute their own portraits. These contributions will be integrated into and displayed within the evolving digital artwork, exploring contemporary notions of national identity and collective art-making through digital and drawing mediums.

The project will run until 27 October 2026. Concurrent with the digital display, the Gallery will host a series of drawing workshops. These sessions are scheduled for 14 May, 12 June, 3 July, 4 September, and 2 October 2026, offering further opportunities for direct public involvement.
