Eric Doeringer, Yayoi Kusama - Infinity Net (2019) sold for $46,100, more than 46 times the low estimate at Bonhams on July 31. The acrylic on canvas work, acquired directly from the artist, has not been traded before.

Measuuring 20.2cm x 25.4 cm and stamped "Eric Doeringer" on the back, the US artist's reduced-scale version of the Japanese artist's work is typical of the appropriations that brought him to critics' and collectors attention.

Doeringer launched his "bootleg" series of small-scale copies in 2001, selling them on the sidewalk outside Chelsea art galleries for $100.
