Elliott Hundley to Exhibit 'Book of Sand' at Regen Projects

Regen Projects in Los Angeles will host "Book of Sand," a new exhibition by artist Elliott Hundley, with an opening reception scheduled for Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 6–8 pm. The exhibition, which will include a public walkthrough earlier that day at 11 am, will remain on view through October 24, 2026.

Hundley's new body of work encompasses paintings, sculptures, and a tapestry. The exhibition engages with concepts of automatism, metacognition, and personal narratives. His practice frequently incorporates found materials and explores the philosophical implications of fragmented objects and their reassembly, drawing connections to sources such as Jorge Luis Borges's writings and Jungian sandplay therapy.

Jonathan Alexander, writing in the Los Angeles Review of Books, observed of Hundley’s method: "The pin, collecting, assembling, is simultaneously the desire to remember, to track, to understand—and also to lose track, to lose oneself in the fantasy of one’s objects of desire..." This insight highlights Hundley’s ongoing investigation into memory, identity, and the complex accumulation of experience.

Elliott Hundley’s work is featured in numerous public collections, including The Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Guggenheim Museum; the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York.
