David Teniers II, The Potters' Fair at Ghent, sold for $1.64m, more than two and a half times the low estimate at Sotheby's in New York on February 5.

The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $700,500, equivalent to an annualized return of 1%. It last sold at auction in 1996 for $935,500 at Sotheby's.

Oil on oak panel, 82.9 x 112.7cm. The work has been traded 24 times in the past.
