Dario Villalba, The Oration (1974) sold for $80,900 (EUR76,600), more than 30 times the low estimate at Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr in Brussels on December 9.
The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $51,700, a 175% rise.
The previous record was set by Baco 70 (1971), which sold for $29,200 at Segre Subastas on December 14, 2004.
