São Paulo will host a comprehensive survey of Mexican artist Damián Ortega titled "Damián Ortega: Matter and Energy" at MASP — Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand. Running from May 15 to September 13, 2026, the exhibition will feature a range of Ortega's works, including his notable monumental suspended installations.
Ortega's practice explores themes of globalization, labor, and consumption, often recontextualizing everyday objects. The exhibition will encompass various mediums, including sculpture, installation, photography, and video, highlighting his conceptual approach to art. His work frequently engages with topics such as time, language, engineering, and architecture within the context of contemporary and Latin American art.
The exhibition involves key figures such as Adriano Pedrosa, Rodrigo Moura, and Yudi Rafael from MASP. Ortega's work has previously been shown at institutions including Centro Cultural La Moneda and Malmö Konsthall.
