Claude Monet, Église de Vernon, Soleil (1894) sold for $7.1m, more than the low estimate at Sotheby's in New York on May 13.

The sale was below the previous auction result by $681,000, realizing a 8% negative return. It last sold at auction in 2014 for $7.78m at Sotheby's.

Oil on canvas, 66.4 x 92.4cm. The work has been traded 13 times in the past.
