Claes Oldenburg, Soft Switches (1964) sold for $1.94m, more than one and a half times the low estimate at Sotheby's in New York on May 15.

The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $1.58m, equivalent to an annualized return of 7%. It last sold at auction in 2003 for $360,000 at Phillips de Pury.

Vinyl filled with dacron and canvas, 116.2 x 117.5 x 39.4cm. The work has been traded 6 times in the past.
