Circle of Leonardo da Vinci, Madonna and Child, sold for $279,400, more than two and a half times the low estimate at Sotheby's in New York on February 5.
The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $273,800, equivalent to an annualized return of 6%. It last sold at auction in 1966 for $5,599 at Sotheby's.
