Charles M Russell, A Disputed Trail (1908), sold for $889,000, more than twice the low estimate at Christie's in New York on January 21.
The sale was below the previous auction result by $1.21m, realizing a 57% negative return. It last sold at auction in 2001 for $2.1m at Coeur d`Alene Art Auction.
