Bonhams Paris has scheduled an online auction dedicated to African and Oceanic Art, running from May 8 to 18, 2026. The sale will present a major collection of ethnographic art, drawn from diverse private holdings.
The auction will include significant works, such as sculptures attributed to Abogunde of Ede and pieces by the Ascher Master. The selection encompasses various forms of traditional art, including ancestor figures, masks, and sculptures crafted from materials like wood and whale bone.
The curated collection delves into themes pertinent to the study of African and Oceanic cultures, touching upon the Yoruba pantheon and diverse deities. The quality of works on offer aligns with pieces found in notable institutions such as the Museum Rietberg and the Musée de l’Homme.
