Ben Nicholson Work Sells for $882,000 to Deliver a 4% Annualized Return

Ben Nicholson, 1938 (white relief) (1938), sold for $882,000 (GBP660,400), more than twice the low estimate at Christie's in London on March 18.

The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $766,700, equivalent to an annualized return of 4%. It last sold at auction in 1983 for $115,300 at Christie's.

Oil and pencil on carved board, relief, in the artist's frame, 58.4 x 60.1cm. The work has been traded twice in the past.
