Avinash Chandra, Nymphs (1969), sold for $40,600, more than three times the low estimate at Christie's in New York on April 1.
The sale was below the previous auction result by $22,800, realizing a 35% negative return. It last sold at auction in 2008 for $63,400 at Sotheby's.
