Auguste Herbin, Christ (1943) sold for $49,500 (EUR45,400), more than twice the low estimate at Christie's in Paris on April 8.
The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $46,600, equivalent to an annualized return of 6%. It last sold at auction in 1978 for $2,938 at Ader Picard Tajan.
