Auction Record Set For Timothy Washington

Timothy Washington, Silent Majority. (1970) sold for $81,200, more than two and a half times the low estimate at Swann Galleries in New York on October 3. The Engraving on aluminum, mounted on a wood panel work has not been traded before.

The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $43,800, a 100% rise.

The previous record was set by Kentucky Derby (1971), which sold for $37,500 at Swann Galleries on October 19, 2023. The work had not been traded before.
