Peter Cain's Auction Record Jumps 39%

Peter Cain, 500 SL #3 (1992) sold for $107,900, more than twice the low estimate at Phillips in New York on September 25. The oil on linen work has been traded once in the past.

The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $30,400, a 39% rise.

The previous record was set by Omega (1994), which sold for $77,500 at Sotheby's on November 15, 2019. The work had not been traded before.
