Leonora Carrington, Les Distractions de Dagobert (1945) sold for $28.48m, more than twice the low estimate at Sotheby's in New York on May 15. The tempera on Masonite work has been traded 4 times in the past.

The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $25.23m, a 700% rise.
