Clement Meadmore, Branching Out (1981) sold for $190,500, more than three times the low estimate at Sotheby's in New York on May 14. The bronze work has not been traded before.

The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $56,000, a 41% rise.

The previous record was set by Upcast (1985), which sold for $134,500 at Sotheby's on September 10, 2008. The work had not been traded before.
