Bernd Caspar Dietrich, Opal (2004) sold for $60,400, more than three and a half times the low estimate at Christie's Online on April 23. The concrete, clay, pigment, acrylic, glass powder and gold leaf on canvas work has not been traded before.

The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $1,868, a 3% rise.
