Basil Kincaid's Auction Record Jumps 58%

Basil Kincaid, Formulation of Worlds, Selves and Bodies (2020) sold for $44,500, more than one and a half times the low estimate at Phillips in New York on May 15. The quilt hand-woven Ghanian kente, wax block print cotton fabric, donated clothes, clothes from the artist, Ghanian embroidered fabrics, embroidery and wool work has been traded once in the past.
The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $16,400, a 58% rise.
