Attributed To Wallerant Vaillant, Portrait of a young man with a fur hat (Undated) sold for $37,300 (GBP28,200), more than nine times the low estimate at Bonhams on October 2. The oil on canvas work has been traded once in the past.
The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $12,000, a 47% rise.
The previous record was set by Trompe l'oeil aux lettres gravures et almanach de 1670 (1670), which sold for $25,300 at Sotheby's on June 02, 1999.
