Attributed To Jan Steen, A seated man asleep, with a bottle in his lap (Undated) sold for $77,800 (GBP56,700), more than seven times the low estimate at Christie's in London on July 2. The oil on panel work has been traded twice in the past.
The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $40,700, a 100% rise.
