The Arts Collective, a new arts centre, is scheduled to open its doors at 24 Guildhall Road in Northampton on May 1, 2026. Occupying a historic building, the centre's inaugural programming will feature an exhibition dedicated to the work of Rose Finn-Kelcey. This presentation is being developed in collaboration with The Estate of Rose Finn-Kelcey and Kate MacGarry, showcasing the artist's diverse practice spanning conceptual art, photography, installation, video, sculpture, and performance.
Beyond the inaugural exhibition, the Arts Collective will host new commissions and site-specific interventions. Featured artists include Foday Dumbuya of LABRUM London, Giles Round, Sam Barker (Grubby Miitts), and Andy Holden, contributing across mediums such as digital art, sound art, and animation. The architectural retrofit and design of the centre have involved practitioners such as Sean Griffiths (FAT) and Studio Morison, with pHp Architects also named among key entities, indicating a focus on integrated design within the new cultural space.
The initiative aims to establish new cultural infrastructure in Northampton, incorporating artist studios, community spaces, and an archive. Partnerships are in place with local organisations including the Northamptonshire Black History Association and NN Contemporary. The Arts Collective's mandate extends to art education and broader community engagement, positioning itself as a hub for artistic development and public interaction within the region.
