The Art Institute of Chicago has announced 'Embroidered Traditions from Morocco to Afghanistan,' an upcoming exhibition scheduled to run from May 2, 2026, through January 25, 2027. This presentation will explore the historical and cultural significance of textiles, jewelry, and adornment across a wide geographic and cultural spectrum.

The exhibition focuses on the visual expressions and diverse embellishment techniques prevalent in Southwest Asia and North Africa. It will feature a range of mediums, including textiles, jewelry, adornment, and garments, showcasing various embroidered traditions.

Among the contributors highlighted in the exhibition are the Indus Kohistani people, whose work will be presented to illustrate specific cultural practices and aesthetic forms. The project aligns with the museum's commitment to exhibiting significant cultural artifacts and traditions.

Support for the exhibition has been provided through contributions from the Janet Marion Purdy endowment and the Olive Baird McKay Exhibitions Fund.
