Anselm Kiefer, Brunhildes Seele (1978) sold for $63,500, more than the low estimate at Sotheby's in New York on May 16.
The sale was below the previous auction result by $50,100, realizing a 44% negative return. It last sold at auction in 2013 for $113,600 at Christie's.
