Andy Warhol, Flowers (1964) sold for $3.83m, more than three and a half times the low estimate at Sotheby's in New York on May 15.
The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $3.79m, equivalent to an annualized return of 16%. It last sold at auction in 1996 for $47,000 at Christie's.
