Andre Lhote, Femme nue en buste (1925) sold for $47,900, more than three times the low estimate at Christie's in New York on May 13.
The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $35,900, equivalent to an annualized return of 3%. It last sold at auction in 1988 for $12,000 at Sotheby's.
Oil on paper laid down on canvas, 75.0 x 60.5cm. The work has been traded twice in the past.
