Alexander Calder, Acrobats (1929) sold for $8.01m, more than one and a half times the low estimate at Christie's in New York on November 17.

The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $7.29m, equivalent to an annualized return of 9%. It last sold at auction in 1998 for $720,000 at Sotheby's.
