Ai Qimeng, Portrait of a First-Rank Imperial Guard in the East Turkestan Campaign (1763) sold for $508,500, more than the low estimate at Bonhams in New York on March 18. The Mounted on backing paper, ink and color on silk work has been traded twice in the past.
The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $324,600, a 175% rise.
