Paper Veils

Paper Veils, an exhibition of 300 paintings by Damien Hirst, is on view at HENI Gallery from 16 November to 6 December 2022. Viewers are immersed in a world of colour amid Hirst’s exploration of the exuberance and physicality of paint.

The ‘Paper Veils’ series follows Hirst’s ‘Veil Paintings’, which draw on the influences of Pointillism. In 2017, Hirst returned to the studio alone for the first time in nearly a decade where he began painting these enveloping, meditative canvases. Here, the smaller, more intimate scale of the ‘Paper Veils’ invite the viewer to experience Hirst’s physical gesture and joy in painting. Thick, clustered and colourful brushstrokes are organised into constellations of seemingly infinite layers, which, like a veil, appear to both reveal and obscure.

The exhibition coincides with the launch of HENI Primary, a new online platform built specifically for primary-market releases of original artworks. All 300 works from Paper Veils are available for purchase via application exclusively on HENI Primary.
