‘Enter the Infinite – Light’, a vibrant tapestry by Damien Hirst, divides his original ‘Spin Painting’ from 2008 into an entrancing eight-point star. From a central yellow and green star bursts patterns of yellow, green, red, blue and white, the product of precisely dividing, repeating and reflecting the original painting. These patterns lead the eye on an uneasy journey into the centre of the work and then out. These shifting inward and outward perspectives are difficult for the eye to follow, revealing its limitations and functions.
