Brian Clarke’s stained glass folding screen ‘Rippling Water’ (G2-25, 2018) displays an entrancing underwater scene. As if looking at the surface of a body of water from below, the panel is covered in circular blue shapes, their rippling effects suggestive of sea currents. Articulated in the infinite twisting, turning and folding of round forms, such peaceful and muted figurations cover the surface of the folding screen, evoking a sense of infinity and expansiveness.
