Vespers
Brian Clarke
£75.00
Vespers is a luminous hardback book showcasing the vast collection of 559 watercolour poppies by British painter and architectural artist Sir Brian Clarke, featuring a preface by the artist and an introduction by renowned writer and art critic Robert Storr.
Taking its title from the Greek hespera meaning ‘evening’, the book presents a series of evening devotions that the artist started to paint in Seville in 2019, a practice that continued between the artist’s home and his studio in London, in the sombre midst of the unprecedented global pandemic of COVID-19.
In the summer of 2024, Clarke's pivotal watercolour series Vespers was celebrated with the application-based release of a series of eight limited edition prints on HENI Editions.
