Tate Modern is set to present a significant exhibition exploring the seventy-year career of Julio Le Parc, a pivotal figure in optical and kinetic art. Running from June 11, 2026, to May 3, 2027, the show will highlight Le Parc's sustained engagement with perception through interactive installations, light sculptures, and geometric abstract paintings.

The exhibition will encompass a range of mediums characteristic of Le Parc's practice, including gouache studies, kinetic works, and large-scale sculpture. His foundational contributions to interactive and light-based art, often exploring colour theory and retinal afterimage, will be central to the presentation. Le Parc's historical association with Groupe de Recherche d’Art Visuel (GRAV) will also be contextualized within the exhibition.

In addition to Le Parc's extensive oeuvre, the exhibition will feature contributions from artists Trevor Paglen and CuteCircuit. This selection underscores the exhibition's exploration of light, interaction, and technology within contemporary art discourse. Le Parc's work has previously been exhibited at institutions such as The Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Serpentine Galleries, London, among others.
