Hanks Willis Thomas' quilts made from pre-worn prison uniforms make Jack Shainman Gallery a standout solo booth at Zona Maco in Mexico City, which opened to VIP collectors today, February 7.

Georgina Gatrix, a young painter from South Africa, presents a trio of impressive impasto paintings inspired by her return trip to Mexico, where she was born. Gatrix's still-lifes are a talking point in the fair at Proyectos Monclova, which organised a solo show of her work last year in Mexico City.

Jose Dávila's redacted-cowboy diptych makes its presence felt at Sean Kelly Gallery, which is currently presenting a solo show of the Mexican artist's photographic works in its Los Angeles space.

Rachel Whiteread's ghostly bulletin boards cast in resin are among the memorable works presented by Luhring Augustine in an historic mansion in Mexico City. The New York gallery is a guest of MASA , which co-presents a must-see group show.

Beatriz González, the veteran Colombian artist who is known as the Pop artist of the Global South, is the subject of a mayor retrospective at the Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo, better known as MUAC, in Mexico City.
