Nguyen Tu Nghiem, Ancient Dance (1966) sold for $129,000, more than eight times the low estimate at Christie's in Hong Kong on May 29. The lacquer on panel work has been traded once in the past.
The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $40,700, a 46% rise.
