Felix Gonzalez-Torres's auction record jumps 77% with $13.63m sale

Felix Gonzalez-Torres, "Untitled" (America #3) (1992) sold for $13.63m, more than one and a half times the low estimate at Christie's in New York on May 14. The light bulbs, porcelain light sockets and electrical cord work has been traded once in the past.

The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $5.97m, a 77% rise.

The previous record was set by "untitled" (l.a.) (1991), which sold for $7.67m at Christie's on November 10, 2015. The work had not been traded before.
