Nicola Green is a British artist and social historian who works at the intersection of contemporary visual storytelling and traditional portraiture. She is celebrated for her unique perspective that offers profound insights into the dynamics of legacy and representation, and how visual language can spark change. Green gained global recognition for her project In Seven Days... hailed by The Metropolitan Museum of Art as “an artistic and historic masterpiece”. For her project, Encounters, she depicted religious figures such as Pope Francis, the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

About the Artist

Nicola Green is a British artist and social historian who works at the intersection of contemporary visual storytelling and traditional portraiture. She is celebrated for her unique perspective that offers profound insights into the dynamics of legacy and representation, and how visual language can spark change. Green gained global recognition for her project In Seven Days... hailed by The Metropolitan Museum of Art as “an artistic and historic masterpiece”. Green co-founded and directed the Diaspora Pavilion at the 57th Venice Biennale and founded the Khadija Saye Arts programme at IntoUniversity. Her work can be found in public collections, including The Obama Presidential Center, The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
