Andy Holden

Andy Holden (born 1982, Bedford, UK) is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist whose wideranging practice embraces sculpture, installation, painting, video, performance, animation, music and curating. He has exhibited internationally, including at Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge, UK; Benaki Museum, Athens; Charles Moffett, New York, and Kröller-Müller Museum, Netherlands. His work is held in British public collections including Tate, Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, Leeds Art Gallery and Arts Council Collection, as well as collections across Europe. In 2012, Holden received the Paul Hamlyn Award and he was included in the Future Generation Art Prize (2017) and British Art Show 9 (2022) then in 2017, he was commissioned by Google Arts and Culture for the BBC, creating the 4-minute film, What is love?. In 2026 to 2027, he has solo shows at Hidde Van Seggelen, Hamburg (September 2026); Seventeen, London (November 2026) and Milton Keynes Gallery (Spring 2027). Holden also performs and releases music with the band The Grubby Mitts. This was the subject of his film, Oh! My Friends (2014–18), which was featured in Good Grief! Charlie Brown at Somerset House, London, 2018–19. Holden was also guest curator for their exhibition, Beano: The Art of Breaking the Rules, 2021–22.
